When you are use to doing one thing over and over again it becomes the norm. It's hard to change, it becomes a habit. Good or bad, that's how it goes. Plain and simple, repetition of any kind becomes habit. If you go to the gym, run, eat healthy or if you smoke, drink, do drugs, or if you enable, are codependent, it's all the same…. Change is never easy. You have to be willing, have motivation and often times help from outside sources.
We all have a vision, dream or goal how we want our lives to be. We can say things to ourselves everyday, like…. I wish I had a better job, better shape, car, relationship, I wish I could stop drinking, stop using drugs, stop being so angry.
Unless we make an effort by first realizing our issues and acknowledging our part in them, and until we try reaching out for help and following through with advice, a set plan, and we take actionable steps to ensure a positive outcome, we will never reach our goals.
It's easy to get sidetracked and feel sorry for yourself when you hit a bump in the road. If you keep repeating patterns you will always have the same outcome. It's time to change what you've been doing and get on a new path.
